Alice Guglielmoni

Alice Guglielmoni, '12

An accomplished Connecticut high school athlete, Alice took up rugby her freshman year, 2008. Utilizing her speed, footwork and newly-found passion for the game, she quickly became a fixture for the Lady Ruggers at outside center. A strategic player, she read the field well, executed every opportunity and possessed the ability to swerve around, break tackles and outrun defenders. By the end of her sophomore year she was voted back captain, a position she held through her junior and senior years.

Alice led the team to back-to-back undefeated fall regular seasons in 2010 and 2011, which included winning the Met Union title in 2010. She received the coaches' award that season as well.

Although Alice's 2010 regular season ended with a torn ACL, she continued to attended practice and games, supporting the team and providing leadership. She gave an unforgettable halftime speech at the National semi-final game in 2010.

Alice returned to the pitch for her senior year, fully recovered, fit and ready. She and the club enjoyed a spectacular season. Alice led the backs in scoring and under her leadership the team earned a #6 national ranking from the National Small College Rugby Organization.

Alice returned to Fairfield after her graduation in 2012 to assist Ryan Birge in coaching the women's team.
