Chris Moore

Chris Moore, '81

Began his career as a Fairfield rugger in the fall of 1977 and was immediately hooked on the game. Chris made an early mark on the FURFC, going the entire fall and spring season as a freshman without missing a practice or a game. He spent four years playing A side rugby as a second row/lock and #8. He was a powerful scrummager and ferocious player around the field. One of the very few four-year A side players in his era. From 1981-1989 played club rugby with the Connecticut Yankees while spending summers playing sevens with both the Yankees and Fairfield.

Chris participated in numerous tournaments as a player including the prestigious Cherry Blossom Tournament in Washington D.C. In an era where personal achievement records were kept haphazardly, he scored what is believed to be the highest point total by an individual in an FURFC game: 24 points against Downstate Medical.

Career highlights include:
  • FURFC Captain - 1981
  • Doug Ciacci Most Valuable Player - 1981
  • Original Fairfield University Hall of Honor - 1988
